Who We Help

Community Action Agencies (CAP)
Our affordable kits empower CAPs to reach more low-income households, tackle heat insecurity, and meet outreach goals using federal and state grants. They also open doors to utility partnerships, additional funding sources, and greater visibility in your community.

Utilities
Heat Smart Kits offer a simple, cost-effective way to ease energy demand while supporting vulnerable households. They enhance conservation programs, strengthen public perception, and help utilities meet RFP requirements with scalable, grant-friendly solutions that make a real impact—both environmentally and socially.

Government and Veteran’s Programs:
Heat Smart Kits are a simple, cost-effective way to support the well-being of our nation’s veterans. Designed to complement government assistance efforts, our kits help extend comfort and warmth to those who have served—especially veterans who may be undeserved by traditional programs.

Need help with funding?
A few pointers about funding:
Heat Smart not only provides a cost-effective program, we can point non-profit agencies in the direction of possible funding sources. There are many companies you can partner with and many places to apply for grants.
- Many utility companies are very involved in Outreach programs for low income areas, and have the ability to fund Heat Smart kits in partnership with you and within
their own heat assistance programs. - Approach local banks and corporate community service programs for financial support. Prepare a plan outlining who the program will benefit, estimate the size of theneed, and state if you need matching funds or complete funding.
- Look into your state’s heat assistance programs.
- Assurance 16 LIHEAP
- US Department of Energy
- Grants.gov
Additionally, because our kit offers warmth, conservation and education, you can partner with:
- Local weatherization programs
- Healthy Homes programs
- Senior energy programs

GET STARTED
Working with Heat Smart is easy!
We’ll work with you every step of the way to make your program successful. And while we work to respond to each community and program’s specific needs, generally, here’s how to get started.
- Identify a group within your community that needs heat assistance.
- Determine the number of Heat Smart Kits needed.
- Heat Smart works best when there is a blanket for each occupied bed in the household. As a general rule, that’s 2 ½ blankets per household.

Three Things to Keep in Mind
Shipping Considerations
When preparing for your shipment, consider whether you have access to a loading dock and the manpower or equipment—such as a forklift or hand truck—to unload the delivery yourself. If not, note that driver assistance, including unloading to the ground or inside your facility, may incur additional fees. Also, consider how far boxes need to be carried and arrange for volunteers if needed. If preferred, you can request the driver to schedule a delivery time in advance.
Storage Considerations
Think about where you will store the kits once they arrive. Keep in mind the kits are packed in medium-size boxes measuring 24”x20”x24” and weighing 40 pounds each. There are 12 kits in each box, and there are eight boxes packed on a pallet. The dimensions of a full pallet are approximately 3’x6.’
Customization Options
We can embroider your blankets with your organization’s logo or the logo of a kit sponsor at an additional cost. We would need a high resolution version of your logo emailed to us in advance.
