HISTORY

The Brickle Group is a third generation family business, founded by Hyman Brickle in 1937. Hyman became interested in the industry when he began working for a rag merchant located in Woonsocket, RI. He then started his own company H. Brickle & Son, Inc in 1937. Originally, their business was focused around trading recycled fibers between textile mills. He was the first woolen waste dealer in the south, which enabled the company to have a prosperous beginning.

In 1958, Hyman’s son, Sam Brickle, took over the company. Sam expanded their products and industries that they served to make a more diverse company. In 1978, H. Brickle & Son, Inc acquired Northwest Woolen Mills. As all of the manufacturing was moving overseas due to cheaper labor costs, H. Brickle & Son, Inc attributes it success to its diversity. With this new entity it was time for a change. H. Brickle & Son, Inc moved into what used to be known as Masurel Mill, The Brickle Group’s current headquarters.

In 1988, after graduating from the Whittemore School of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire, Sam’s son, Max, began working for the family business. In 1998, Max became the President of the Brickle Group, managing the three textile divisions. He continued the companies expansion and diversification through acquisitions and organic growth . Bouckaert Industrial Textiles (B.I.T) was one of the acquired businesses by H. Brickle & Son, Inc in 2000. As of 2001, each of the divisions merged together to become The Brickle Group.
